In 1960, a small, British, fortress colony is advised to invest in mass migration to avoid a terrible predicament. Fast forward sixty years, and independent Malta is an EU member state with a diversified economy dependent on migrant workers. So much has changed. This book documents and critiques the unparalleled transformation that has gripped the ‘workscape’ of the Maltese Islands within living memory.
