Join the Energy and Water Agency for a captivating reading session on water conservation and biodiversity! Children can choose to read together one of the following books: Osbert and Friends (8–12 years); Il-Kavallier Għatxan (8–10 years); L-Istejjer ta’ Zoe u d-Dragun Waqt Żmien il-Pandemija tal-Covid (6–8 years).

Osbert and Friends (8–12 years)
Osbert, a painted frog who lives at Chadwick Lakes, teaches us about his habitat, surroundings and the biodiversity of Chadwick Lakes.

Il-Kavallier Għatxan (8–10 years)
This story takes us back to the time of the Knights of St John, where we meet the knight Jean de Villers, the greatest friend of Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt. Jean was assigned a very important role: to take care of the water supply of the Maltese Islands. We see Jean investigating the wells, cisterns, spiers and tunnels due to the lack of water. With Jean’s help, the Grand Master followed the report of the engineer Padre Tomasucci, who recommended the building of the aqueducts, a project where high quality water would come down from Rabat and Ħad-Dingli and reach the fountain outside Valletta. Jean’s work increased since he would often check the progress of the project that was so important for the Maltese Islands.

L-Istejjer ta’ Zoe u d-Dragun waqt Żmien il-Pandemija tal-Covid (6–8 years)
Although the title of this book mentions the Pandemic, the characters Zoe and the Dragon still help out the teachers at Ċentru Għajn during their lessons. Thanks to these two characters, children learn about the water cycle, virtual water, and how to safeguard this precious resource which is so scarce in the Maltese Islands.
