John A. Bonello, Francesca Grech (ill.)

John A. Bonello was born in 1976 and lives in his grandparents' house in Ħad-Dingli. His published books include the Il-Logħba tal-Allat trilogy (It-Tielet Qamar, L-Aħħar Ħolma and Is-Sitt Aħwa), the Unus Mundus two-book series (Fil-Mergħat tal-Impossibbli and Jien, Wieħed Minnhom) and the Irvin Vella, Investigatur Virtwali books – detective fiction novels aimed at young readers. In 2017 he undertook a literary experiment by choosing to publish the same novella in Maltese and English – It-Taár and The Taár – so as to gauge the public's reaction (the Maltese volume was the better selling of the two). Another bit of formal playfulness was The Transmissions: a story published in 60 episodes of 100 words each, released online in 2016, and now available in its entirety as an Amazon e-book. Since the start of his writing career, Bonello has been awared the National Book Prize seven times, and is also the recipient of the Ġieħ Ħad-Dingli. He works as an online editor by day, writing in his spare time. He is an avid reader, particularly of fantasy fiction, and also a huge Star Wars fan. He is passionate about agriculture, and also enjoys table tennis.
