She devotes a good amount of time to writing for both children and adults. She taught Maltese literature over a 24-year stint, the last eight of which were also spent serving as the Head of the Maltese Department at Junior College. She has won numerous prizes for her works, most of which – including Kulħadd ħalla isem warajh and Castillo – was translated into various languages, including English, Italian, Arabic, Slovenian and Hungarian. Leanne Ellul teaches Maltese, and helps guide students during the early phase of their journey into writing. She is a writer of prose and poetry. She has published poetry collections on blue rooms, white spaces and green trees. Her first novel for young adults was Gramma and 2025 saw the release of the second novel of hers to win the Novels for Youth Literary Contest: be;n il-kmiem.
