Home / News / Books donated to the San Blas Therapeutic Community (Caritas Malta) Back to News Books donated to the San Blas Therapeutic Community (Caritas Malta) Initiatives • News 16th August, 2019 The National Book Council (NBC) has donated a significant number of books to the Therapeutic Community of San Blas (Caritas Malta) which runs rehabilitation programmes for people struggling with substance abuse, among other services. The books were presented at the newly refurbished library of the facility, currently undergoing extensive restructuring. Jeffrey Muscat, Head of San Blas Males Therapeutic Community accepted the donation in the presence of other staff members. The donated books span a diverse range of literary genres, ranging from locally published novels, short-stories and poetry to ethnographic research, in Maltese and English. The majority of the books were shortlisted or winning titles of the Maltese National Book Prize and the European Union Prize for Literature. The NBC donates a number of books throughout the year as part of its mission in promoting a culture of reading among all sectors of society.
