The National Book Council (NBC) appoints external evaluators to assist in the evaluation of grant applications and literary contest submissions. In its work to support the development of the publishing sector, the NBC annually publishes competitive calls for applications to the literary contests and funding schemes that it manages. 

In particular, external and independent Evaluation Boards are appointed to assess proposals and applications submitted to:

 The Malta Book Fund
 The National Book Prize
 The Doreen Micallef National Poetry Contest
 The Novels for Youth Literary Contest

With the aim of ensuring the highest degree of transparency, applications / proposals submitted to schemes managed by the NBC are assessed according to the set objectives, scope and criteria of each respective scheme.

This list of selected evaluators will be valid until 31 December 2024.

– Who can apply?

The NBC is looking for individuals with a background in publishing (writing, editing, translation, illustration), published research (arts and humanities, sciences, social sciences), literature (prose, poetry, drama, criticism) and literature in translation.
