Applications for exhibitors and student pre-registrations for educators wishing to participate at the 2024 edition of the Malta Book Festival are now open. The Festival will be held from Wednesday 6 to Sunday 10 November.

Building on the rich legacy of its former iteration, the Malta Book Fair, the Malta Book Festival (MBF) has since 2013 become an integral part of the island’s annual cultural calendar and remains the largest book-based event in Malta and Gozo. Organised by the National Book Council, the MBF welcomes thousands of visitors of all ages and walks of life, availing themselves of the Festival’s growing number of exhibitors and activities. Renowned international guests give further added value to the event, securing its status as a prestigious celebration of the written word.

Application for Exhibitors

The
application form for exhibitors, with updated rules, regulations and provisions, is open to all local and international publishers, book distributors, bookshops and book agencies. NGOs and public entities, whose field of activity involves the publication of books or the promotion of literature, as well as self-published authors, are also eligible to apply. All stand fees will be subsidised by the NBC, and reduced by 70% in a bid to support prospective exhibitors.

As in previous editions, exhibitors may also request a full refund on the application fee if they register for the ExhibitorsMedia Refund Scheme and promote the Malta Book Festival, their events, books and/or participation at the Festival to a wider audience through the advertising and promotion in the local press and boosted social media posts.

Interested participants are urged to apply early and submit, along with their application, a detailed list of the events they would like to organise as part of the cultural programme of the Festival. They are respectfully reminded that early applications will be given preference in the programme of events and are encouraged to peruse all terms and conditions before applying.

The application should be preferably filled online and must be received by Friday, 14 June 2024.

Registration of School Visits

Also as of today, educators are invited to register their students to visit the MBF.

The call applies to all heads of College, heads of Primary, Middle and Secondary (State, Church and Non-State Schools), previous applicants, teachers and school librarians.

Students will be able to attend the Festival from 9 am or from 11 am on the Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, and participate in activities and performances.

All registered students will be receiving a €5 voucher redeemable at the Festival and will be able to attend an age-appropriate show at the Festival Theatre.

The live theatre performances will be based on works by Maltese authors and illustrators. The shows will be booked on a first come, first served basis.

At the NBC, we have been working hard to organise the Book Festival with the same energy and dedication as in previous years, but with enhanced and increased offering, taking into consideration feedback received from educators following last year’s visit.

We invite educators to kindly click on this link to show their interest by pre-booking to secure a spot for their school to visit this year’s Malta Book Festival by 25 June 2024.

We look forward to welcoming exhibitors, event organisers, and educators and students to the Malta Book Festival 2024.
