Aฤกenzija ลปgฤงaลผagฤง and the National Book Council would like to announce that the winners of the Literary Contest of Novels for Youth 2016 are Antoinette Borg with with her manuscriptย ย โ€˜ลปejt fil-Wiฤ‹ฤ‹โ€™ย and Matthew Schembri withย โ€˜Stessiโ€™. Antoinette Borg is the author of a published work โ€˜Fittixniโ€™ (2016, Merlin Publishers) while Matthew Schembri has participated in Taฤงลผiลผ, an activity set up by Aฤกenzija ลปgฤงaลผagฤง in cooperation with L-Gฤงaqda tal-Malti โ€“ Universitaโ€™.

The awards ceremony was held on Friday, 3rd March 2017 at the Aฤกenzija ลปgฤงaลผagฤงโ€™s โ€˜Youth Villageโ€™ in Santa Venera and was presided over by Hon. Bajada withย ‘Kundizzjonijiet u Termini Japplikaw’ย โ€“ were honoured with book presentations by the publishers who published the winning titles and excerpts of their work were read.

Aฤกenzija ลปgฤงaลผagฤง together with the National Book Council annually organise this writing contest which selects, rewards and publishes Maltese novels written for young adolescent readers. The contest is open to those aged 20 and over and the manuscripts submitted should target young people aged between 13 and 18 and explore themes related to the different situations encountered by young people during this stage in their lives. A maximum of two novels are subsequently chosen as winners and then published.
