This year it was decided to send all the authors in the Public Lending Rights scheme a €20 book voucher to be spent on a book of their choice. This is a token of appreciation to them as our stakeholders. 2020 was the most difficult year ever for the book industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic crisis which followed. Our society cannot afford to miss on the intellectual, cultural and educational opportunities this industry brings. This is why it is so important for us to support the industry and ensure it returns back to growth. Publishers accelerated their transition into the world of online retail and tapped into as many online sales as possible. We now encourage customers to buy books from local publishers online. You can find a link to all online bookshops here. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
