Exhibition: From Illustration To Book – NBC & Arts Council Malta

From Illustration to Book is a collaborative exhibition organised by the National Book Council and Arts Council Malta that explores the evolution of contemporary illustration in Malta.

The fifth edition of the exhibition is split into five sections. ‘Maltese Illustrated Characters’ focuses on classic and contemporary characters that have left an indelible mark on our literary imagination. ‘Illustration Today’ and the ‘MCOI Illustration Annual 2026’ highlight some of the finest work by illustrators and book designers active today in both Malta and on the international scene. The ‘Artist Spotlight’ area devotes special attention to a prolific illustrator: Matt Stroud. This year, the Artist Spotlight, will aslo be paying tribute to the late Ġorġ Mallia, who contributed greatly to illustration and other fields in Malta. Finally, ‘From Idea to Illustration’ showcases the journey from concept to drawing, which eventually leads to the final illustration.
