Home / News / Book Donation to Malta Libraries as part of the celebrations for World Book Day and Libraries Day 2019 Back to News Book Donation to Malta Libraries as part of the celebrations for World Book Day and Libraries Day 2019 Initiatives • News 22nd April, 2019 [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] On the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day and Libraries Day 2019, and the National Book Council took the opportunity to donate a considerable amount of books as to Malta Libraries. These books, a selection of the finest titles from several Maltese publishing houses, including the winners of the National Book Prize 2018, will hit public library shelves around Malta and Gozo very soon. The selection of books is varied, from original to translated literature for adults and young adults; from poetry to books for children, as well as academic, historiographic, biographic and general research publications. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text] The Senior Manager of the NBC, Simona Cassano, presented the books to Cheryl Falzon, National Librarian and CEO of Malta Libraries. The NBC plays an essential role in Malta’s book industry, with an aim to encourage a culture of reading among people, especially the younger ones. Throughout the year the National Book Council has already made other major donations to Malta Libraries, schools and various organizations on various occasions. More book donations are planned for this year.
