As the publishing industry has grown significantly over the past few years, our team has increasingly become larger and professionalised. We are now looking at adding a new member to our team. Working for the National Book Council provides an opportunity to make a difference in the ever-growing Maltese book industry, supporting the work of all its stakeholders. Our staff use their skills to find innovative, long-lasting solutions to better support authors, publishers, illustrators, translators, editors. We have a strong and highly-skilled team of people, and we keep learning and growing together, having all started out with small roles. We offer a career, not just a job. We will hire the most talented individual and offer exciting professional development. We ensure equal opportunities, as well as an inclusive work environment. We are looking for a candidate who is committed and passionate, would thrive in a diverse and multi-cultural work environment, and is keen to contribute new innovative ideas, skills and solutions. The assistant manager will be helping in the preparation, organisation and management of events and projects, setting up marketing campaigns, executing outreach and assisting the team in daily admin tasks. This is a part-time job (20 hours per week). Job requirements: preferable university-level education; excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office skills and social media platforms; excellent command of both English and Maltese; previous work experience related to the book industry; driving licence. Unfortunately, given the highly-specialised nature of our work and the large number of applications that we receive when a vacancy call is issued, we will not be accepting applications from individuals who have no ties with the Maltese book industry, previous experience working in publishing, or basic knowledge of Maltese literature.
