Behind the Series: Editing ‘Bejn Storja u Miti’ – Għaqda Qarrejja tal-Provi tal-Malti 🇲🇹

For this event, the Association of Proofreaders of Maltese will focus on the editing and proofreading of a book series, a vital aspect of the publication process with unique considerations that has not been explored in recent years.

The focus will be on Bejn Storja u Miti, an ongoing contemporary series published by Horizons since 2012. Renowned for its sought-after insights into key public figures, the series includes volumes on Duminku Mintoff, Herbert Ganado, Trevor Żahra, Mabel Strickland, Giovanni Bonello, Anton Buttigieg, Eddie Fenech Adami, Fr Hilary Tagliaferro, and most recently, Emvin Cremona.

Speakers Dr Sergio Grech (editor) and Mr Joe Cassar (proofreader) will explore the origins and development of the series, how personalities are selected, and the step-by-step process once a subject is chosen. They will discuss what it takes to edit and proofread a multi-contributor series, the special considerations and challenges involved, and share anecdotes and personal highlights from working on Bejn Storja u Miti. The session will conclude with a Q&A, giving the audience an opportunity to ask questions.
