Home / News / CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: POSITION OF DIRECTOR (EXECUTIVE) WITH THE NATIONAL BOOK COUNCIL Back to News CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: POSITION OF DIRECTOR (EXECUTIVE) WITH THE NATIONAL BOOK COUNCIL News 16th May, 2025 JOBSPLUS PERMIT NUMBER 477/2025 The National Book Council is inviting applications for the Position of Director (Executive) with the National Book Council – Jobsplus Permit Number 477/2025. This is a high-level, full-time position on a definite three-year contract, renewable upon agreement, and offering a competitive package based on Salary Scale 4 (€41,530 per annum) together with performance-related bonuses and additional allowances. Reporting directly to the Executive Chairperson, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational management of the Council. Responsibilities include contributing to the implementation of the NBC’s strategy for 2025–2030, supporting internal governance and EU-level representation and ensuring efficient coordination of personnel and programmes. Applicants must hold a recognised Master’s degree (MQF Level 7) in a relevant field such as Arts, Literature, Publishing, or Public Policy, along with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience, including at least one year in a comparable management role. Fluency in both Maltese and English is essential. Additional eligibility requirements and full duties are detailed in the official call. Applications must be submitted only electronically and addressed to the Executive Chairperson at nationalbookcouncil@gov.mt. Submissions must include: A cover letter; An updated Europass CV including ID number and qualifications; An updated Service and Leave Record Form (GP 47) or Jobsplus employment history; A recent Police Certificate of Conduct. Public Sector applicants must also submit leave records and official confirmation of current duties from the relevant Ministry. The deadline for submissions is strictly noon (CET) on Wednesday, 28 May 2025. Applications received after this date and time will not be considered under any circumstances. Acknowledgment of application receipt will be sent via email. Candidates will be assessed by a selection board, with a pass mark set at 50%. This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the literary and publishing landscape in Malta through one of its most dynamic cultural institutions.
