News 5th March, 2025 The National Book Council (NBC) has turned over a new leaf for its visual identity, unveiling a holistic rebranding exercise – beginning with the launch of its revamped website. This transformation marks a new era for the NBC as it refines its mission to champion Maltese literature both locally and internationally, ensuring greater accessibility, engagement and visibility. Devised in collaboration with Concept Stadium, the rebrand leads with the adoption of a brand new logo – a stylised representation of books stacked on each other, serving as an elegant reminder of what lies at the core of the NBC’s guiding principles.“As the leading public entity representing the literary industry on the island, the NBC has always prided itself in being a key part of the country’s cultural landscape, which makes a strong visual identity a crucial part of our arsenal,” the NBC’s Marketing Manager Teodor Reljić said. “Our rebranding exercise sought to establish a sleek reinvention of the Council’s logo and overall look, opting for a minimal design which nonetheless encapsulates the NBC’s mission and its ongoing dedication to the book industry and literary culture,” Reljić added. The NBC’s new look finds its full expression on a newly revamped website, also unveiled this week and working in tandem with the rebranding exercise. Created in collaboration with 9HDigital and enhanced by fresh new images taken by photographer Nathan Camilleri, the new website aims to facilitate an improved user experience with clearer navigation, a cleaner design and enhanced accessibility. While ensuring a degree of continuity and familiarity with the previous iteration, the site has now been refined to deliver a more seamless browsing experience. Users will be able to more easily explore through the details of the NBC’s various initiatives and contests, with information on both their history and the relevant participants made more upfront and accessible. Similarly, sections dedicated to media, publications and resources have also been reorganised, allowing for easier access to important materials pertaining to Maltese literary culture, which has been either created or archived by the NBC to benefit the general public. Coming just ahead of the imminent publication of the National Book Council’s Five-Year Strategy document – which will set a yardstick for the way forward in the years 2025–2030 – the rebranding exercise and the new website thus help pave the way for the next phase of the NBC’s future operations.
