Campus Book Festival • Festivals • Initiatives • News 20th March, 2023 All is ready for the opening of Kampus Kotba, the tenth edition of the 2023 Campus Book Festival. This Festival, organised by the National Book Council (NBC), is truly unique – annually held at the University of Malta in collaboration with a number of departments, student organisations, NGOs and cultural governmental entities. During these coming three days, both students and the public will be able to gather at the Quadrangle and browse hundreds of books, ready to be purchased from the exhibitors’ stands. Among the publishers and main booksellers with Malta’s most recent publications are Ede Books and the cooperative Kixott, Faraxa Publishing, Horizons, Kite Group, Klabb Kotba Maltin/Midsea Books, SKS Publishers and Mallia & D’Amato Bookshelf Curators. Among the exhibitors will be Think Magazine, l-Għaqda tal-Malti – Università, LGBTI+ Gozo and Arts Council Malta. The programme of events will cater to different tastes and include thematic discussions, book clubs, interviews with writers, and local and international researchers, literary discussions, book launches, and workshops. The beauty of this programme lies in its collaborative element, something that can be observed in the various events, such as the illustration workshop with Arts Council Malta, the reading session by LGBTI+ Gozo, a session of poeżija slam by the Għaqda tal-Malti – Università, a creative writing workshop on young adult literature, a discussion about the chapbook by EDE Books, and also Palk Ħieles, organised by Inizjamed, which provides a platform for individuals to perform in any form of art. The events organised by the NBC include interviews with two of the winners of the 2022 National Book Prize, Tyrone Grima and Alfred Buttigieg. If you love music, you have yet another reason to visit Kampus Kotba. This year, the display ‘Ħsejjes Letterarji’ (Literary Sounds) will be dedicated to the music in Maltese literature and was devised to help you find your next read. As you browse through Maltese novels, poetry collections and non-fiction literature, discover how music enhances your reading experience by adding a new dimension to the text, as entire playlists can be accessed through a single book via the QR codes. Entrance to the 2023 Campus Book Festival is free. Opening hours are 9am-4pm on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23, and 9am-7pm on Friday 24.
