As it happened, our first guest was the late Prof. Godfrey Wettinger, best known for the joint discovery and first translation of the greatest literary treasure of the country: Il-Kantilena of Pietru Caxaro, and for his recently-vindicated refusal of Gian Francesco Abela’s claim of continuity of Maltese Christianity. Accordingly, this year we will celebrate the work and literary contribution of the 2015 winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award, the poetess Maria Grech Ganado, author of one of the best-loved poems in modern Maltese literature Jum San Valentin and the first ever woman to be appointed lecturer at the University of Malta. The event will focus both on her literary work and on her activities in the social and cultural spheres. Maria will be interviewed by Charles Calleja during the event which will take place on Friday 11th November 20:30hrs at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
