Home / News / The National Book Council announces revamped Malta Book Fund Back to News The National Book Council announces revamped Malta Book Fund Festivals • Funds • News 19th February, 2020 While thanking the Arts Council Malta for its valuable contribution towards the visibility of Maltese writing over the past years with the Cultural Export Fund Translation Grant, the National Book Council (NBC) is be pleased announce that it will be taking over the administration of the Grant as part of a revamped Malta Book Fund. As of May 2020, the Translation Grant for Maltese works to any other language will become one of the funding strands within the Malta Book Fund. Another new grant, this time for the translation of works from any other language into Maltese, will also be making part of a restructured Malta Book Fund. The Fund’s total value for 2020 will be of EUR 105,000; EUR 50,000 for the Publication Grants, a EUR 40,000 Grant for the Translation of Maltese works to other languages, and a EUR 15,000 Grant for the Translation of works from other languages into Maltese. All of the grants within the Malta Book Fund adhere to the provisions of the Writers’ Charter of Economic Rights and will be open to works of fiction, non-fiction and works of academic research. The grants will be awarded to successful applicants following a competitive adjudication process. The call for application, guidelines and regulations will be published in May 2020.
