Home / News / The National Book Council donates new books to Malta Libraries Back to News The National Book Council donates new books to Malta Libraries Initiatives • News 27th May, 2022 The National Book Council (NBC) has today donated a large amount of new books to Malta Libraries, the entity within the Ministry for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government which takes care of all public libraries in Malta and Gozo and the National Library in Valletta. This inter-ministerial collaboration takes place every year, and the aim of the NBC is for public libraries to have a supply of new books every year published by local publishers. The donated books were bought by the NBC from different publishers, established and new ones alike. This donation consisted of fiction books, namely novels, short-stories, poetry, drama, literary nonfiction and translations, and also research and academic books. The books were presented by NBC Executive Chairperson, Mark Camilleri, to Malta Libraries Executive Chairperson and National Librarian, Cheryl Falzon.
