The fair is also an opportunity to strengthen our collaboration with Literature Across Frontiers (LAF), who invite us each year to share their stand with them. LAF is a European Platform for Literary Exchange, Translation and Policy Debate which aims to develop intercultural dialogue through literature and translation and highlight less translated literatures. The NBC values this relationship and our common interest in promoting smaller literatures via translation. A selection of books published in Malta in Maltese and English was exhibited at the stand, and also a considerable number of books in translation, of which many were the result of meetings held with publishers at various book fairs the NBC visits around the world. The representative from the Council consolidated existing relationships with relevant stakeholders such as publishers and writers, met new publishers and discussed prospective projects, visited exhibitor stands and attended discussions and book launches by some of the world’s most famous authors, such as the launch of a new book by Man Booker Prize winner Ben Okri. The NBC looks forward for the next edition of the ADIBF.
